CERES µAM Print System.

CERES is a standalone 3D printing system for printing pure metal objects in complex geometries at the micrometer scale, and with submicrometer resolution. By harnessing the astonishing precision of pinpoint electrodeposition, CERES opens the door to amazing advances in high frequency communications, neural interfaces, microstructural characterization, and more.

CERES µAM Print System.

The CERES printing system "will be used for cutting-edge research on advanced micro- and nano-scale materials and structures, and will apply them in 5G communications, MEMS electronics and photonics, biomedicine and medicine, life sciences, and nuclear physics."

CERES is a standalone micro 3D printing system capable of printing complex pure metal objects (gold, silver, copper) with microscale and sub-microscale resolution. Additionally, it uses liquids and nanoparticles— which can be made from different materials— to write patterns.

CERES combines nanoscale precision positioning, pneumatically driven fluid dispensing, electrochemical deposition, and optical force feedback. The latest version of the system is operated by our CAPA software, which features an intuitive user interface that seamlessly connects all components of the system.

CERES enables printing at room temperature without the need for post-processing. It can print overhanging parts without requiring support structures— a key distinction from other metal additive manufacturing technologies.

Two high-resolution cameras with computer-aided alignment functionality enable precise printing— for instance, direct printing onto predefined integrated electrodes on the chip surface. The cameras also support automatic ion tip loading and visualization of printed structures.

The CERES system and its proprietary software are equipped with a comprehensive online user manual, which is regularly updated. This allows users to make the most of all new features and workflows.

Exaddon Print Process

Exaddon's technology uses template-free electrochemical deposition to create free-standing metal structures. The fundamentals of this process are outlined in the CERES datasheet below.

Exaddon has extensively investigated the material properties of our printed structures.

Several of our customers focus their research on characterizing the micromechanics of CERES-printed objects.

Exaddon CERES Use Cases

The Exaddon CERES µAM Print System specializes in printing free-standing objects at the lower end of the microscale (e.g. 1 µm - 300 µm in size), such as pillars, coils, and lattices. With no heat, no lasers, and no post-processing, CERES delivers microscale pure metal objects in a single workflow. With excellent conductivity (87% of bulk copper) and tensile strength, printed structures are suitable for a range of applications.
